Dr. Garcia, I just looked at all the photos on your site and discovered that in addition to not having any examples of lip lifts, you don`t have many examples of other procedures as well — and certainly none of your filler injections. MIght you be updating your site soon to include a greater variety […]

Answer:

sorry but I have no plans in the near future to expand the photo gallery of different procedures. Although some doctors do have many photos, in my over 26 years I have not found that to be something that I needed as results vary form patient to patient. JG 1.12.14

Thanks for your answer about the corner lip lift. I can`t find any examples of your own work in this area in your photo section. Would you kindly post some? Before I make my decision, I would like to see the real extent of the scars, which I know you would reveal — unlike so […]

Answer:

I do not have many photos on my website for many different reasons, some of it is because patients nowadays do not like their images on the web and some of my patients prefer to have their pictures only seen in the books we have in my office where the images cannot be copied or shared and I also think it can lead to inaccurate expectations. As you can see many other doctors feel differently and post many photos on their websites, but in over 26 years of doing this I have never followed that dictum. Additionally seeing one patient does not mean that a different person will have the same end result. All the results will vary from patient to patient. At times the scars can be imperceptible but the longer the lift, the more visible the scars can be.Also as the length of the scar is limited buy the distance form corner of the mouth to the nasolabial fold, not all patients can achieve the degree of lift that they desire. When you have a temporal fascia graft taken, can it be taken anywhere from top of scalp or only in a certain area? I ask because I have a bald spot in band area on top of head so I was wondering if the bald spot could be cut out when taking a temporal fascia […]

Answer:

it has to come from the area over the temporal muscle, so it is the lower scalp lateral side of the forehead only. The location of the bald spot would make access to the fascial graft difficult I am afraid. JG 1.10.14

Thank you for that encouraging prognosis regarding my alopecia! I`m elated! That`s 1 full inch/month. I`ll be awaiting hair with even more enthusiasm than the spring grass after this bitterly cold winter in Baltimore — as in so many other places! One additional question: Should the hair that fell out the earliest (in late August) […]

Answer:

the first fall-outs should be the first to regrow, yes.Keep your spirits up, Spring brings new growth. JG 1.10.14

Hi, Dr. Garcia. Happy New Year! You were very kind to me last summer when I started experiencing global alopecia exactly 12 weeks following a facelift in early June. My hair finally stopped shedding in early December. I am wearing a wig — which is hideous! — and can`t wait for my hair to start […]

Answer:

Should start in the next 2-3 months, and it does grow about 1mm per day, there are 25mm in an inch so you can calculate form there. Good protein intake will also help as hair is all protein.Keep me posted and I wish you the best. JG 1.9.14

This may seem like an odd question, but I`m going to ask it anyway. Now that the New Year has arrived, all the diet companies are pushing their advertisements constantly on television. Marie Osmond is hawking one of these companies, so I`ve seen her several times in the past week. We are the same age. […]

Answer:

She has had a forehead lift in the past. If you search for photos of her form a few years ago you will see that. As to what else, well I cannot say 100% but I would imagine medical grade skin care, likely fillers of the face after her weight loss, and also possibly some other facial procures one can imagine since she had already conceded to them before. As to looking surgical, as long as the patient and the surgeon are willing to leave a natural look, they will look good. Having said that, after her apparent forehead lift a few years ago she did not look so natural for quite some time. The best to you for the New Year too. JG 1.4.14

Hello Dr.Garcia, well firstly Happy New Year to you and your family in your part of the world and may this year be a wonderful year for you all. I am considering having either some cool sculpting or relatively new one called Zerona to get rid of some serious love handles. I do not want […]

Answer:

I would skip the zerona and use coolsculpting. You can expect about a 20% loss with each session, it takes a couple of months to see the results. I wish you the best for the New Year. JG 1.4.14

I have fair skin. I stopped bathing out in the sun in summer when I was 15. Since then, I have not got much sun. Now, I am 40. I do not understand why I have this turkey neck texture in middle of my neck since I have avoided the sun. Unless this is damage […]

Answer:

sun exposure will speed it up but it will also happen, yet at a slower speed to to aging and genetics.Any exposure you had when you were younger will contribute to it, as well as other factors such as second hand smoke. BW has had at least two facelifts that I have heard of and who knows how many laser sessions and chemical peels over the years, along with a good make up artist.Lasers can be tricky on the neck as they cannot be used at too strong of a setting, but lasers are better for texture issues than surgery. Fillers will not help I am afraid. Might want to seek out a plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your area for an in person consultation to give you available options after seeing you. I wish you the best. JG 1.3.14

Hi, Dr. Garica. Happy Holidays! I know you`re a big proponent of supplements. What do you make of the three studies published last week in the Annals of Internal Medicine which claimed that they are worthless — and, rarely, even harmful if taken is extreme doses? This latter claim seems to have been widely known […]

Answer:

well, if you read the article closely you will find that they are attempting to compare vitamins to medications which is never done by anyone reputable. I do not think they are the same, and I think treating with vitamins to very high doses can have negative side effects but much less frequency and of lesser severity compared to medications. I think vitamins are helpful in treating deficiencies and if used properly that can allow the body to protect itself. I think it is hype by the medical community to discredit others while protecting their turf. BTW, most medications do not get the prevention that they are expecting from the vitamins. They write for reasons, at times, beyond what is best and inflate or cite certain things that they claim the others purport with none of the evidence to prove it. I am still taking my vitamins and will continue to do so, and I bet you most of the docs that wrote the paper also take vitamins too! Best for the Holidays and a happy new year to you. JG 12.26.13

I have the herpes simplex virus and it has erupted with a vengeance around the corners of my mouth following facial implant surgery. I think that the fact that retractors were in there for a couple of hours, pulling on the tissue. I started taking Acyclovir (1 gram/day) immediately following the surgery, but it seems […]

Try changing to Valtrex pills but use Zovirax oitment too. JG 12.22.13
