Question:

I have fat pouches on each side of my upper lip in the moustache area. Kind of like a cat. My father had the same thing he just wore a moustache his whole life. Is there anything I can do other than grow hair over it?

Answer:

At times fat pouches can be removed with an incision inside the mouth, but that is not always possible. When large pouches are removed, the skin can end up being a little loose though. During a facelift procedure,, fat pouches are removed. It is hard to say if your pouches can be easily removed without seeing you in person.

Question:

Dear Dr. Garcia, a while ago, you suggested I try turmeric for joint inflammation. I've been taking it for about 6 weeks now and have noticed no difference; in fact, the crepitus is just as loud as ever. I'll keep trying the turmeric, but I wonder if I should add tart cherry capsules. I've read a bit of research suggesting that they too might be strong anti-inflammatories. What do you think? I'm happy to try these things, but they are expensive and if they're not going to work -- or to work so minimally as to be clinically insignificant-- then I hate to spending all this money needlessly. Thanks so much! You're amazing.

Answer:

the cherry is also good, as well as avoiding gluten. Apple cider vinegar is also used. If you have crepitus it is likely just more than swelling though and inflammation. I might be some loose fragments of torn cartilage in there that are causing continuous irritation and then inflammation. Might be time for a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon.
